It was glowingly reviewed: ‘A lovely novel,’ declared the Daily Telegraph, ‘a little masterpiece’ wrote the Sunday Express. ‘The Fortnight in September’, written two years after ‘Journey’s End’, shares its emphasis on real people leading real lives.
